Akufo-Addo sacks Two Deputy CEOs of Northern Development Authority

A Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority, Patrick Seidu, has had his appointment terminated by President Akufo-Addo.

The dismissal letter, dated 21st December 2022, takes effect from March 21, 2023.

The letter was signed by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare.

It said, “You are expected to comprehensively hand over your duties and any official property in your custody to the Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority before your departure.”

“We thank you for your services and we wish you the best in your future endeavours,” the Chief of Staff said.

A similar dismissal letter was also handed to another Deputy CEO of the Authority, Stephen Yir-engu Engmen on the same day.

His dismissal also takes effect from March 21, 2023.

Although the reasons for the dismissal were not stated, there are speculations they may be linked to a recent issue of alleged corruption at the Authority.

The Northern Development Authority (NDA) was established under the Northern Development Authority Act 2017 (Act 963) to provide a framework for the accelerated economic and social development of the Northern Zone. The NDA also serves as an agency for the implementation of the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication programme (IPEP).
