Alan To Address Ghanaians As He Thanks Akufo-Addo For Accepting His Resignation

Presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party and former Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen, says he will address Ghanaians soon.

The former Trade Minister said this in a social media post thanking President Akufo-Addo for accepting his resignation this week.

Speculations are that his resignation is linked to his preparation for the presidential race of the New Patriotic Party.

Akufo-Addo in accepting his resignation, commended him for his service to the government and the country, and wished him well.

In Alan’s place, the President asked the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, to act temporarily until a substantive appointment.

“The President has asked the Minister for Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, to act as caretaker Minister at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, until a substantive appointment is made” the statement said.

Mr. Kyerematen in his post said, “I will be addressing the Ghanaian people in the next few days.”

Alan Kyeremanten is one of the longest-serving Ministers in the Akufo-Addo administration. He’s led that Ministry since 2017.

He also served in that capacity under President John Agyekum Kufuor between 2003 and 2007.

He’s attempted the NPP presidential ticket several times against Akufo-Addo who beat him to become flagbearer and subsequently the President.

He’s expected to be the main contender against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia when the NPP opens nominations for its presidential primaries for election 2024.
