All Is Set For 2023 Ghana Football Awards

The prestigious Ghana Football Awards are celebrating their fifth year, and the organisers have planned a number of events to mark the occasion.

The most anticipated event on the football calendar is the Ghana Football Awards, which were established in 2018 to showcase Ghanaian football greatness and honour Ghanaian footballers and other stakeholders for their successes at home and abroad.

Since their debut in 2018, the Awards have been presented annually, with the exception of 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the implementation of restrictions on both citizens and event organisers.

As the programme’s producers, AE Media, put it, “this year’s edition of the Ghana Football Awards will be a celebration of Ghana’s rich football heritage.” The event has been dubbed “The Festival of Football” for its fifth edition.

A variety of fun events have been planned for the big party. Accra and Kumasi will host a trophy tour, and there will be a football forum and nominee announcement in the latest sports news today.

Mr. Karl Tufuoh, chairman of the awards scheme’s governing board, expressed his satisfaction with the programme’s development and the positive reception it has received in Ghana.

Since Thomas Partey, Edouard Mendy, and Sadio Mane have all won awards at previous editions of the Ghana Football Awards, it has gained global recognition and the support of clubs like Atletico Madrid FC, Chelsea FC, and Bayern Munich.

A large number of athletes and celebrities are expected to attend this year’s event because there is no major football tournament during the usual end-of-season vacation.

The Ghana Footballer of the Year award is the most prestigious honour given out that night, while there are more than 10 substantive award categories and three special award categories at the Ghana Football Awards.

Ghana’s current footballer of the year is Alexandre Djiku, who currently plays in France. Thomas Partey (twice) and Andre Ayew are previous winners of Footballer of the Year.

The 2023 edition’s nominee announcement is scheduled for May, and the ceremony itself will take place in June at a location that is still unknown.
