Another Powerful Earthquake Strikes Turkey And Syria Two Weeks After First Disaster

Turkey and Syria have been hit by another earthquake exactly two weeks after the big one on February 6, 2023, which cause the death of the former Black Stars winger Christain Atsu.

His body was discovered under the rubble on February 18 after a 12-day search and was flown from Turkey to Ghana on Sunday 19, February 2023.

The global news site AJ+ says that the 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit the border between Turkey and Syria. On February 6, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit the region, killing about 46,000 people in Turkey and Syria according to a report reaching Tru News Report.

The mayor of the southern Turkish province of Hatay has reported that individuals are still buried under the wreckage from the recent earthquake.

According to the Turkish vice president, eight individuals have been hurt. Even though over 6,000 quakes have been recorded by Turkish authorities since that earthquake, reports say that today’s tremor felt significantly stronger than earlier ones, it was also felt in Syria, Egypt, and Lebanon.

As a safety measure, AFAD told people on Monday to stay away from the coast, and the vice president of the country told people to stay away from damaged buildings.

Sunday, Turkey’s disaster management agency said it had stopped most search and rescue operations. This was almost two weeks after the earthquake, and experts say it’s unlikely that anyone still trapped in the rubble will survive at this point.
