Another Road Crash Kills 7 Travelers On Winneba-Mankessim Road

Seven travelers are reported dead in a fatal accident at Gomoa Anteadze on the Winneba-Mankessim Road in the Central Region.

Eight others are said to be in critical condition at the hospital in the accident that occurred on Thursday.

According to Citi News, a Sprinter mini bus lost control after a metal bar came off from under the car.

The car reportedly veered off the road and somersaulted multiple times before running into a tree.

It is believed that the driver was competing with another driver for passengers along the highway when the incident occurred.

2,171 People Perish In Road Accidents In Ghana In 2022

The number of commuters killed in traffic accidents during the first 11 months of 2022 reduced by 18.2 percent compared to the same period in 2021. That’s according to preliminary reports from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service.

The majority of the improvement may be attributed to better enforcement by the MTTD and more awareness development by the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA).

From November 2021 to November 2022, the number of fatalities fell from 2,654 the previous year to 2,171.

Males who died were 1,708.

Road accidents claimed the lives of 1,708 males in total, including 196 minors and 1,512 adults over the age of 18.

Total of 463 women died

There were 463 female deaths, including 102 women under the age of 18 and 361 women of legal driving age.
