Davido Renews Multi-Million Dollar Contract With Sony Music And Its Subsidiary, RCA Records

The Nigerian sensation Davido has renewed his multimillion-dollar contract with Sony Music in a significant move that solidifies his status as one of Africa’s most prominent musical talents.
The contract extension was confirmed today, Friday, May 19, 2023, in separate social media posts by the artist and his legal representative, BFA & Co. Law Firm.
This announcement follows the release of his fourth studio album, “Timeless,” which went on to set various milestones worldwide following its release on March 31, 2023, as well as the announcement of his Timeless Tour.
Davido signed his first contract with Sony Music and its subsidiary, RCA Records, in 2016. At the time, Davido’s career had already lasted several years.
He later renegotiated his contract with Sony due to creative control difficulties. Together with his Sony contract, Davido founded the record company Davido Music Global, which currently handles Dremo, Yonda, and Peruzzi.
Davido’s decision to renew his contract with Sony Music demonstrates his trust and confidence in the label as a partner in his musical career. The multimillion-dollar contract not only demonstrates Sony Music’s financial commitment to the artiste, but also highlights his exceptional talent and marketability.
Davido has been at the forefront of the Afrobeats genre, infusing Nigerian sounds with international appeal, making him a genuine ambassador for African music on a global scale.
Davido has dominated the charts with a string of hit songs, including “Fall,” “If,” and “Fem,” and has accumulated a devoted fan base in Africa and beyond with his recent songs like “Unavailable” from the Timeless album.
His charismatic stage presence and distinctive manner have made him a globally in-demand performer for concerts and festivals.
This contract renewal comes at a time when Afrobeats is gaining popularity around the world. The ongoing collaboration between Davido and Sony Music confirms African music’s growing influence and financial viability, displaying the continent’s remarkable potential.
