Illinois Prosecutor Drops 10 Charges Of Sex Abuse Against R. Kelly

According to multiple reports, an Illinois prosecutor dropped ten charges of sex abuse against R. Kelly. The cost was one of the factors weighing in on her decision.

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx told reporters that her office believes “justice has been served” against Kelly with those two convictions. “Mr. Kelly is looking at the possibility of never walking out of prison again.”

Kelly was expected to appear in court on Friday in the state case where he is accused of sexually abusing four individuals, three of whom were children.

Kim launched the state’s prosecution of Kelly in 2019, stating that the offenses occurred between May 1998 and January 2010.

The singer was facing three to seven years in prison for each charge if convicted.
