The procedure for choosing students to enroll in senior high schools for the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will begin on Wednesday, August 23, according to the Ghana Education Service (GES).
The GES said on Friday, August 11, 2023, that before the exercise, it will perform sensitization and education on this year’s rules in all regions and schools, under the signature of the Head of Public Relations, Cassandra Twum Ampofo.
The sensitization, which will feature a video that explains the criteria for school selection, is set to start on Friday, August 18.
“Management informs stakeholders that the selection of schools is scheduled from August 23 to September 4, 2023,” the statement announced.
Tru News Report previously shared that two persons were arrested by the police on August 7, 2023, for allegedly engaging in exam malpractices at the Dunkwa Secondary Technical Center in the Central Region’s Upper Denkyira East Municipality.
Albert Adu-Gyan and Yaw Adadai, two suspects who worked as teachers at PEEBLE Calvary and Oxford Santech schools, respectively, were apprehended when they tried to smuggle some completed exam questions into the examination room for students taking the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) there.
Two mobile phones and answers to questions on two different papers were among the items taken from the two suspects. Both suspects are being held in jail and will appear in court.
“We would like to caution the public against indulging in examination malpractices in the ongoing BECE as the Police will arrest any persons found involved in such practices,” the Police said in a statement on Tuesday, August 8.
