The Met Gala, the biggest night in fashion has taken over New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art this year, and your favourite musicians made it to the red carpet.
The exclusive event, which raises funds for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art each year, is known to be a star-studded affair with one of the city’s most in-demand tickets. So, who was chosen this year to walk up the famous carpeted stairs?
Pop star Dua Lipa, this year’s co-chair, paid homage to Karl Lagerfeld — the late fashion designer whose work is the theme of Monday’s gala — by wearing one of his Chanel Haute Couture bridal gowns, which was originally modeled by Lagerfeld’s longtime muse Claudia Schiffer at the brand’s fall/winter 1992 show.
Hip-hop rookie Ice Spice made her ice-cold debut at the Met Gala, trading her trademark red curls for long, straight tresses to complement her sleek white gown.
Singer Rita Ora made her mark with a sheer-accented black gown with an unbelievably long train that made a stunning statement on the coveted stairs.
Kim Kardashian paid homage to Karl Lagerfeld’s penchant for pearls which she fully drenched. Kim Kardashian arrived swathed in 50,000 pearls in a custom Schiaparelli gown that flaunted her hourglass figure.
