Former NFL Star Vontae Davis Is Dead At 35

Former NFL star cornerback Vontae Davis has passed on at the age of 35 as reported by WSVN 7. Davis was found deceased at his grandmother’s residence in Southwest Ranches, Fla.

The authorities have stated that no foul play is suspected. Davis, who was initially drafted by the Dolphins in the 2009 NFL Draft as the 25th overall pick, spent the first three seasons of his professional career in Miami before being traded to the Colts prior to the 2012 NFL season.

During his time in Indianapolis, Davis received two Pro Bowl selections and played until the 2017 season. In February 2018, he signed a one-year contract with the Bills but retired during a game in September of the same year.

In February 2023, Davis faced charges of driving under the influence following a crash in Broward County, Fla., where his Tesla allegedly collided with a disabled truck on the highway.

Responding officers found Davis seemingly asleep on the side of the road and struggling to remain conscious after being placed in a patrol vehicle.

Colts owner Jim Irsay expressed his grief over Davis’ passing on Monday, sharing a heartfelt message on X.

“Extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Vontae Davis. A great guy, teammate, player. My prayers to Vontae’s family,” Irsay wrote.
