Founder and Leader of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Rev Christian Kwabena Andrews, popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom has asked John Dramani Mahama to withdraw his candidacy as far as the 2024 presidential election is concerned.
Making his point clear on XYZ TV in a recent interview, the famed clergyman who is hoping to lead the country on the ticket of the aforementioned political party, opined that Mahama has made significant contributions to the growth of Ghana and should move down to allow others the opportunity to rule.
Additionally, he urged Ghanaians not to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which he claimed had nothing to offer the nation.
“As for the NPP, they have been cursed; nothing they do will go well, so let us kick all of them out. John Mahama has done well in some aspects. He came to build infrastructure projects and so on. It is time for him to rest, he should not contest again.
“Those calling him (Mahama) to come back do not have vision. He has contributed his quota to the country, and there are other competent and knowledgeable people who should also be given the opportunity to contribute,” he argued.
He further asked the people of Ghana to give him the chance to govern the nation claiming they would see the change they yearn for. He declared that if elected president, operating a free port for food imports will be the first step he takes to help Ghana out of its current economic turmoil.
