Osman Bukari to The Rescue As Ghana Draws 1-1 With Angola in Luanda

Osman Bukari’s second-half goal saved the day for the Black Stars in their second-leg match of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying encounter against Angola on Monday in Luanda.

Despite being outplayed for the majority of the match, Ghana was able to secure a 1-1 draw, keeping their place at the top of the qualifying group and moving closer to qualifying for next year’s tournament in Ivory Coast.

Ghana’s victory hinged on the brave alterations made by Chris Hughton. Hughton decided to replace Kamaldeen Sulemana, Antoine Semenyo, and Mohamed Kudus with Joseph Paintsil, Inaki Williams, and Osman Bukari after losing a goal and struggling to create opportunities.

In the absence of captain Andre Ayew, who was ruled out with a knee injury, and with the news that vice-captain Thomas Partey was ill prior to the game, Ghanaians felt apprehension.

Losing these two players would have been terrible for the Black Stars. Nonetheless, the available players rose to the challenge, and Daniel Amartey, who stood in as captain, led the squad with distinction.
