It Was Not Cool- Lil Nas X Apologises to Trans Community Over Transition Tweet
After making a joke about transitioning on social media, Lil Nas X apologized to the trans community.
The rapper acknowledged in a tweet on March 14 that his original post was incorrect. The joke in the issue was a picture of a lady who looked like him with the caption, “The surgery was a success,” and a heart emoji. It has since been removed.
“Apologies to the trans community I def handled that situation with anger instead of considering why it was not cool,” Lil Nas wrote in his apology. “Much love to you guys. sorry.”
However, some fans were still not impressed as one of them responded and said his “fake” apology wasn’t enough. To that, Nas X simply wrote: “girl eat my ass.”
This is not the first time Nas is grabbing the headlines for a similar stunt. Before releasing his debut album Montero on September 17, 2021, he promoted the record on social media by posting a number of “pregnancy” pictures.
Writing on Twitter on 2 September, Lil Nas X teased: “SURPRISE! I can’t believe I’m finally announcing this. My little bundle of joy Montero is due September 17, 2021.”
The post came with a series of photographs taking off the typical celebrity pregnancy announcement. On Tuesday (7 September), Lil Nas X announced that he and his team had set up a “baby registry” raising funds for LGBT+ and human rights organisations.
