Jay Z To Buy Tottenham Hotspur From British Billionaire Joe Lewis

Jay Z is reportedly interested in buying Tottenham Hotspur from British billionaire Joe Lewis, whose family trust presently owns the soccer team, according to a report by Football365.

On Wednesday (July 26), Lewis was charged in the US with 16 charges of securities fraud. According to The Guardian, Lewis has also been charged by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) with three counts of insider trading.

Lewis has pleaded not guilty to the accusations. If Lewis is found guilty of either of these accusations, he faces jail time and penalties in addition to losing his ownership stake in the North London Premier League team. And according to a JAY-Z associate, the Hip Hop billionaire is praying for that.

“More than a few of the very top clubs there – like Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea – are now under US ownership and Jay would jump at the chance of a controlling interest at board level somewhere with the global reach of Spurs,” the associate told Football365.

“It remains to be seen whether Mr Lewis will walk away free. If he doesn’t, Jay has said he wants to be in a position to move quickly if he feels the price is right. He believes this is achievable, especially with the backing of fellow investors.”

However, it’s unclear what Tottenham Hotspur’s acquisition price will be in this situation or who else will join JAY-Z as investors to ensure the investment. In addition, this isn’t Hov’s first involvement with a soccer contract. Roc Nation Sports and Italy’s top soccer league reached a “strategic partnership” earlier this month. They will work together to increase the league’s visibility in North America by collaborating on a variety of “digital content, marketing activations, and events.” In 2019, The Roc and Serie A first collaborated commercially.

“We are super excited to help Serie A expand its brand throughout America while helping to develop meaningful commercial partnerships along with enhanced brand visibility that will lead to continued growth for one of the world’s premier football leagues,” said Roc Nation Sports president Michael Yormark.

With the Latin motto Audere est Facere (“to dare is to do”), Tottenham’s symbol is a cockerel perched atop a football. Tottenham was founded in 1882. Since the 1898–1899 season, the team has worn white shirts and navy blue shorts as their home uniform.

In Bulls Cross, Enfield, on Hotspur Way, is where they hold their practices. As the only non-League team to do so since the Football League’s founding in 1888, Tottenham won the FA Cup for the first time after it was established in 1901. When Tottenham won both the League and FA Cup in the 1960–61 season, it became the first club in the 20th century to accomplish this feat.

After successfully defending the FA Cup in 1962, they won the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1963, becoming them the first British club to do it. They were the first British club to win two different major European trophies in 1972 when they won the UEFA Cup for the first time. The only Manchester United to have won at least one major title in each of the six decades from the 1950s to the 2000s.
