Kennedy Agyapong Explains How He Turned Down A $3M Bribe From A Businessman

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a Ghanaian politician and businessman who represents Assin Central in parliament for the New Patriotic Party, claims he is not corrupt and has never collected a bribe.

During an interview on Metro TV’s “Good Evening Ghana,” Kennedy Agyapong said he would never do anything to enrich himself at the cost of the Ghanaian people. He talked about how an Indian businessman offered him $3 million in exchange for his influence on a government project.

“I met an Indian last week and he said there is a project that he thinks I can influence. The actual cost of the project they have given them is ($)26 million.

“The guy comes to say that he can do it for $9 (million) and of course as a businessman, he has to make a profit with whoever introduced him, $3 (million), making $12 (million). Then he said to me, I’m going to give you $3 million so I will add it to the $12 (million) to make $15 million and I said no to him.

“Ghana first, I don’t want the $3 million if you know you can do the job for $12 million so be it. The young men that come from America with their tickets and everything whatever you want to give to them it is okay but as for me I won’t take any money, and the Indian man, was there with his young engineer son, his son whos engineer he said wow, I have goose pimples. I have worked in Africa for 22 years and I have never seen a black man reject $3 million like you,” he said.

When asked why he rejected the money he said;

” I rejected it because if you know the actual cost is 9 and you want to inflate it to 15 and give me 3milion at the expense of the poor people that has no good education no drinking water, hell no!”.
