Manhattan Grand Jury Votes to Indict Trump in Hush Money Case

Former US President Donald Trump has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury over his alleged involvement in the Stormy Daniels hush money case. He will turn himself in, although we do not know the timetable.

Since January, the grand jury has heard testimony from a plethora of witnesses, including Trump’s former attorney and fixer, Michael Cohen, who spent prison time in connection with the Stormy Daniels case. Trump did not testify before the grand jury.

The specific charges have not been disclosed by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, although they are likely within the next few days.

Trump is currently at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida. Trump is expected to fly to New York City to submit himself. He has called for demonstrations, and the city is on high alert. He has also stated that if he is indicted, there will be “death and destruction.”

This marks the first time a former US president has faced criminal charges. The charges stem from an investigation led by Democratic Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg into hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels. Trump has been accused of paying Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about an affair she had with him in 2006.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing and called the investigation a “political witch hunt.” He sought re-election in 2020 but was defeated by Democrat Joe Biden. Trump has been making another run for the White House, but the indictment could have serious implications for his political future.

The indictment comes after a month-long break in the grand jury proceedings. The grand jury is also looking into a payment made to former Playboy model Karen McDougal, who alleged that she had an affair with Trump. The former US president has denied the affair.

The news of Trump’s indictment has sparked reactions from both his supporters and critics. Some of his supporters have called the indictment a politically motivated attack on the former president. Meanwhile, his critics have hailed the indictment as a victory for justice and the rule of law.

Trump’s legal team and Bragg’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The indictment is likely to be a major topic of discussion in the coming days and weeks as the case moves forward.
