Jorge Mas, the managing owner of Inter Miami, is diligently working towards organizing a tribute match against Barcelona, aiming to provide both Messi and his devoted fans with a fitting farewell experience, as he conveyed to Marca.
“I gave [Messi] my commitment that I will do everything possible in the coming years so that he has the opportunity to say goodbye to his fans in Barcelona,” Mas said to the Spanish newspaper.
“Inter Miami will go [to Barcelona] or we will have some kind of match. Messi’s departure from Barcelona was not to his liking, he could not say goodbye to his club, which welcomed him as a child, and I think the circumstances were not what Lionel wanted.”
Lionel Messi, who initially joined Barcelona as a young player in 2003, enjoyed a remarkable 18-year tenure with the esteemed Spanish club. Throughout his illustrious career, he achieved the extraordinary feat of scoring a club-record 672 goals while representing the senior team.
