Millie Bobby Brown Isn’t Your Ordinary ‘Damsel’ In Netflix’s New Fantasy Film

Millie Bobby Brown, the star of Stranger Things and Enola Holmes, is back with a new Netflix film, a fantasy adventure titled “Damsel.” The film, which premieres on March 8, 2024, follows the story of a princess who is sacrificed to a dragon by her new husband’s family, but refuses to be a victim.

Brown plays Elodie, a dutiful damsel who agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find out that the royal family has a dark secret: they owe an ancient debt to a fire-breathing dragon, and they pay it by offering princesses as sacrifices. Elodie, however, is not willing to accept her fate and decides to fight back and escape from the dragon’s lair.

The film is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who is known for his horror and thriller films such as “28 Weeks Later” and “Intruders.” The film is co-written by Fresnadillo and Dan Mazeau, who have worked on films such as “Wrath of the Titans” and “Fast X.”

The film also stars Ray Winstone as the king and Elodie’s father-in-law, Robin Wright as the queen and Elodie’s mother-in-law, Nick Robinson as Prince Henry, Elodie’s husband, Angela Bassett as Lady Bayford, Elodie’s stepmother, and Shohreh Aghdashloo as the dragon’s voice.

The film is based on the book of the same name by Elana K. Arnold, which was published in 2017 and received positive reviews from critics and readers. The book is part of a series called Damsel Tales, which features different stories of damsels who defy the expectations and stereotypes of their roles.
