‘Moana 2’ To Be Released In November 2024; Teaser Released

Disney has surprised fans by announcing a sequel to its hit animated musical film “Moana,” which is set to hit theatres on November 27, 2024. The film, titled “Moana 2,” will be an animated feature and is separate from the live-action remake of Moana that is still in the works for a summer 2025 release.

“Moana 2” was originally developed as a TV series for Disney+, but the studio decided to turn it into a theatrical release after being impressed by the footage. The film will follow Moana, the Polynesian princess and wayfinder, and Maui, the demigod, as they embark on a new voyage with a mysterious crew of unlikely seafarers.

The film is directed by Dave Derrick Jr., who worked as a storyboard artiste on the original film and is the first Samoan director for a Walt Disney Animation Studios project. The songs are written by Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa’i, who composed and co-wrote the songs for the first film, along with Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, who joined them in writing the songs for the sequel. Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson will reprise their roles as Moana and Maui, respectively.

Moana 2 is expected to be a fun and inspiring movie that will appeal to fans of the original film and new audiences alike. The film will explore the themes of identity, culture, family, and friendship, as well as the importance of protecting the environment and respecting the ocean. The film will also showcase the rich and diverse cultures and traditions of Oceania, as well as the history and mythology of the region.
