NCA Launches Shortcode To Verify SIM Cards Linked To Ghana Cards

On Monday, May 1, 2023, the National Communication Authority, in conjunction with the telecommunications providers, introduced a shortcode for the general public to use in verifying the phone numbers linked with their Ghana Cards.

Users have complained that fraudsters are able to link their numbers to other people’s Ghana Cards, prompting the need for a prescribed, user-friendly system that can confirm whether or not a given number is officially linked with a particular card in the latest news today.

Telecom providers were subsequently asked to roll out a shortcode that would enable customers to confirm the number of SIM cards linked to their Ghana cards.

“There will be no need for Subscribers to physically go to the Telco to verify same when the shortcode is operational, by the end of April 2023, after the testing has been completed and approved.”
