Illumination and Nintendo join forces for the first time to create The Super Mario Bros. Movie, a new big-screen adventure starring one of pop culture’s most recognizable plumbers from the past four decades.
Based on the universe of Nintendo’s Mario video games, the film transports audiences to an action-packed, exuberant comedy universe that has never been seen before.
Brooklyn plumbers Mario (Chris Pratt; Jurassic World and The LEGO Movie franchises) and Luigi (Charlie Day; It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) are transported down a mysterious pipe and into a magical new world while repairing a water main. When the brothers are separated, however, Mario sets out on an epic journey to find Luigi.
Mario discovers his inner strength with the help of a Mushroom Kingdom native, Toad (Keegan-Michael Key; The Lion King), and Princess Peach’s (Anya Taylor-Joy; The Queen’s Gambit) training.
Comes to theatres April, 5.
