Nigeria Election 2023: Tinubu Leads With A Massive Margin In Ondo State

Bola Tinubu, the candidate for president from the All Progressives Congress (APC), is now ahead in the polls in Ondo State.

The state collation center in Akure, Ondo State, says that Mr. Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, has 240,802 votes.

The People’s Democratic Party candidate Atiku Abubakar is well behind in the polls with 71,729 votes, while Labour Party candidate Peter Obi is even further down with 24,097 votes. There are eighteen communities in Ondo State, and Mr. Tinubu has won all 13 of the local governments that have been declared so far, with only five more to be announced.

For Mr. Tinubu and the APC, the next several hours will be crucial as they wait to learn if he will be proclaimed the winner in the state. Yesterday, the INEC Collation Officer for the state’s presidential election said that the results would not be made public until Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m.

The results for Akure South, Ilaje, Ese Odo, Okitipupa, and Odigbo local governments have not yet been made public. Agents from both parties and outside spectators were dissatisfied with the official’s announcement that the procedure would not continue until 7 p.m.
