Nobody Can Manipulate Chris Hughton– Former GFA Member

Samuel Oduro Nyarko, a former member of the Ghana Football Executive Council, thinks it will be challenging for those associated with the FA to impact Chris Hughton, the new head coach of the Black Stars.

In reaction to numerous allegations that the Ghana FA meddles in the operations of different national team coaches, Mr Nyarko believes Hughton would be an exception.

Oduro Nyarko, speaking to Citi Sports, asserts that given the former Brighton manager’s extensive expertise and pedigree in the industry, it will be challenging to influence his work.

Hughton is the man who cannot be manipulated; he is good. I think that he is the one who will stick to his guns and not allow himself to be manipulated.

That makes him a good coach, coupled with his experience in the English premier league. I t (the Black Stars) is a young team and the possibility to lead this team to success is glaring.

Before the appointment of Hughton as the coach of Black Stars, maverick Ghanaian politician affiliated with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sam George claimed that the job was handed to Chris Hughton in advance yet the FA was merely engaging in a charade to fool Ghanaians.

Sam George who is the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram in an interview on  Joy Prime revealed that the Ghana FA had decided to appoint Chris Hughton as the successor of Otto Addo following the latter’s resignation from the role after the Black Stars exit from the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Sam George claims that the choice has long been set since the Ghana FA wants to pick someone they can have “control” over.

“That [coaching] job they have given it to Chris Hughton already so why are we wasting our time?” he quizzed on Joy Prime.

“They have given it to him because they want someone they can manipulate, someone they can use to do their business, someone they can tell him to bring his team selection [with changes being made with regards to agency callups] regardless of how long the person has played or not played.

“People are using GFA to make money, they are using it to feed their family.”, he added.
