Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde Urges Young People Not To Quarrel With Their Parents When Choosing A Life Partner

Nigerian actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has urged young people to respect their parents’ decisions on who they should marry.

In a conversation with Doreen Avio during the Ladies of Valor event in Accra, the actress stated that parents are often aware of factors that young people do not consider when choosing a life partner.

“Don’t argue with your parents about your life partner. There are things they see that you will not see. It doesn’t mean they are always 100% right. But trust me, 80% – 90% are right when it comes to very serious life choices like a life partner,” she said.

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde emphasized the need to listen to parental advice while still pursuing one’s own goals, saying that parents naturally want what’s best for their children.

“When it comes to career, you will have to understand that parents are sometimes biased. It’s not really their fault. It is because they want the best for you and they believe some careers will make more money and time passed, it hasn’t, But times are changing, sometimes they don’t see that because they are not in that generation. In the beginning, when it is very rocky, find a way to merge both that is your will and vision and somehow accommodate them.” she added

Nana Aba Anamoah founded the initiative Women of Valor with the intention of bringing together strong, brave women to share their experiences of success, grief, and everything in between.

On March 7, 2023, actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, former head of the Election Commission Charlotte Osei, Ghanaian businesswoman Eugenia Baffour Bankoh, and business executive and communication expert Obuobia Darko-Opoku were some of the people who spoke at an event called “Untold stories of courage.”
