Piers Morgan has continued to criticize Manchester United, saying that their 7-0 loss to Liverpool was punishment for the way the club treated their talismanic icon, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The broadcaster and TV personality has a very strong bond with Ronaldo culminating in the explosive interview he granted to him recently which ruined his reputation at Manchester United.
Before his heated exchange with the 38-year-old resulted in the five-time Ballon d’Or champion having his contract torn up at Old Trafford, he was unhappy with how United had handled the player.
In recent posts on social media, Morgan has expressed his pleasure at seeing the Red Devils suffered a historic loss at Anfield. He has asked if Erik ten Hag has resigned yet and noted that the celebratory dancing that preceded a Carabao Cup victory will not be repeated.
United’s seven-goal humbling against Liverpool represents their worst result in the Premier League era and has seen them equal their heaviest-ever defeats from the 1920s and 30s, with Ten Hag’s side allowing collective standards to slip in the most dramatic of fashions.
Ronaldo probably kept an eye on what happened at Anfield on Sunday, but he doesn’t care about United’s performance anymore because he is presently working at Al-Nasr in Saudi Arabia, where he has the most lucrative contract in all of football.
