The Black Galaxies of Ghana have arrived in Constantine ahead of their first match against Madagascar at the Championship of African Nations competition in Algeria.
The team travelled from their base in Constantine, where they would be playing their Group C games, to Algiers, where they spent a week preparing.
Prior to Sunday’s match against Madagascar, Ghana under the direction of coach Annor Walker will continue its preparations. In their other Group C games, the team will compete against the current champions Morocco and Sudan.
The team played Algeria and Mozambique in a friendly before flying to Constantine, with Ghana drawing against the hosts while the other game ended abruptly. In the 72nd minute, after Ghana was given a penalty, the Mozambicans left the field.
After missing the previous three rounds of the continental tournament, the Black Galaxies are making a comeback. In the first edition, Ghana reached the championship game but lost to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In 2014, Libya defeated Ghana in the finals.
