
According to recent reports, Taner Savut, the sporting director for the Hatayspor team who went missing following the terrible earthquake together with Christian Atsu, has been found dead.
The club issued a statement on February 21 in which they expressed their profound sorrow at Savut’s passing and extended their condolences to his family and supporters:
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our Sporting Director, Taner Savut. May God have mercy on our teacher. We express our condolences to his family and fans. We will not forget you, Taner teacher. May God rest your soul in heaven. You are always in our hearts.”
Tru News Report understands that the death toll following the earthquake now stands at seven for Hatayspor, including Savut and Atsu, who were key figures within the club.

Galatasaray and Fenerbahce of the Super Lig were among the teams to send their sympathies, as were the Turkish Football Association.
There are estimates that over 40,000 people were murdered as a result of the earthquakes and their aftershocks in southern Turkey and northern Syria.
