Rio Ferdinand was not impressed with the antics of Liverpool after their historic win against Manchester United at Anfield and has consequently slammed them as having a small mentality.
On March 5, the Reds destroyed Erik ten Hag’s team at Anfield to earn their biggest-ever victory over their bitter rivals with a 7-0 victory. After the match, Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool team erupted in jubilation. Ferdinand was unimpressed by the events at Anfield following the game and has claimed that Liverpool overreacted to their triumph.
“That is a small club mentality. That screams small club. Screaming and celebrating when you beat Man United,” The former United defender said on his YouTube channel FIVE.
Ferdinand added on the behaviour of Souness and Carragher who were with him in the commentary box: “The way Souness and Carragher were celebrating, the way they were trying to antagonise the guys [Roy Keane and Gary Neville], and then their team goes and does that at the weekend. They should be ashamed of themselves.”
Liverpool are now eight points behind United, who were held to a draw by Southampton in their most recent game, and six points behind fourth-placed Spurs.
