In a rare event since 2021, Russian President, Vladimir Putin on Thursday, February 8, 2024, granted an interview to American journalist, Tucker Carlson.
The interview conducted in Russia and streamed live on social media saw the Russian leader justify some of his decisions and actions including his invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

On whether Russia plans on invading other countries, including Poland or Latvia, Putin shot down the idea while giving historical antecedents on what led to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“Only in one case, if Poland attacks Russia. Why? Because we have no interest in Poland, Latvia or anywhere else. Why would we do that? We simply don’t have any interest,” he stated in response to whether Russia will invade other countries.
On America’s support for Ukraine, Putin said the US could focus more on domestic issues instead.
Following the interview, some critics have pointed out that the Russian leader was evasive in his responses and spent the major part preventing the journalist from questioning him about pertinent issues.
