We Should Be Given The Same Holiday As Muslims And Christians” – Traditionalists

The Traditionalists in the country have requested that the government declare a national holiday in their honour.

The statement was made, during the annual festival celebration held in Dagbamate, Akatsi South District, of the Afetorku Gbodzi Shrine.

Sam Davis Davor, secretary of the Afetorku Gbodzi Shrine and representative of the High Priest Moses Davor, said in his welcome address that it is important to recognise Traditionalists in the country with a national holiday in the same way Muslims and Christians are given holidays.

He argued that they should also be given a great deal of importance to make them feel more secure and boost their confidence because they also contribute greatly to the growth and development of the country.

The Traditionalists claim that a public holiday honouring African religion is necessary for national progress and that it is also important to provide proper acknowledgment to African traditional medicines and organisations.

This year’s festivities helped fund the construction of a state-of-the-art Chief’s Palace. On this occasion, thanks were also extended to the government for funding the expansion of the local health centre.
