6 Suspects Arrested In Connection With AKA’s Death

Six persons have been arrested by the police in South Africa and are currently awaiting trial in connection with the death of South African musician Kiernan Forbes, also known as AKA, and his associate, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motshoane, a famous chef turned entrepreneur.

Lt Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, the provincial police commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, disclosed during a press briefing on Tuesday, February 27, that the suspects were contracted to surveil the deceased rapper’s activities before orchestrating the fatal attack that also claimed the life of his companion.

“It was clear that AKA was monitored from the airport and Tibz was not the intended target in the murder on Florida Road in Durban.  We know they were paid for this,” Lt Gen Mkwananzi said.

AKA was fatally shot by an unknown assailant shortly after leaving a restaurant in Durban, where he had been enjoying a meal before his scheduled performance later that evening.

Based on the evidence collected by the police, it was determined that AKA was targeted and shot at close range from behind, indicating that it was a deliberate assassination.

Another gunman then fired shots to discourage any witnesses from intervening, unfortunately injuring Chef Tibz in the process. The sudden and tragic death of the rapper sent shockwaves throughout the global community, prompting an outpouring of grief and tributes from fans and fellow musicians alike.

“To us, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, most importantly, father to his beloved daughter, Kairo. To many, he was AKA, Supermega, Bhova, and the many other names of affection his legion of fans called him by.

“Our son was loved and gave love in return. In this time of grief, we appeal for your compassion, space and time to congregate as a family and decide on the upcoming days,” read a statement by his family.

Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said his team is yet to establish the motive for the murders.
