Actor Jefferson Machado Found Dead Inside Trunk
Sadly, the body of missing Brazilian actor Jefferson Machado who went missing in January has been found.
On May 22, the actor’s remains were found in a yard of a home in Campo Grande, Brazil. The regional news outlet R7 verified this.
The 44-year-old man is believed to have owned the trunk where his body was found before it was buried six feet down. The Machado family’s lawyer, Jairo Magalhae Pereira, wrote on Facebook that the family is now seeking “truth and justice” after confirming the celebrity’s demise.
“It is with regret that I share the sad news of the passing of actor Jeff Machado, whose body was found with strangulation signs,” the statement read.
“This discovery confronts us with the cruelty present in our society, motivating us to seek truth and justice in the face of such impactful cases. “Preliminary information indicates that the actor’s body was found in a trunk, buried in a hole of considerable depth. This situation deeply saddens us and is indignant in the face of the suffering faced by Jeff.”
“My commitment as a lawyer is to seek tirelessly for truth and justice. It is my responsibility to ensure that everyone involved in this brutal crime is held accountable and punished and that Jeff’s family finds the support they need to get through this very painful time,” the statement concluded.
After a non-governmental organization contacted Machado’s family to let them know that his eight dogs had been left behind at the home, they learnt of his disappearance. The family started receiving texts from someone they thought was the actor throughout the following months.
Maria Das Dores, the mother of Machado, stated that she thought the email was odd because it was full of spelling mistakes and didn’t seem like her son. He had also ceased calling her, and the accused impostor had stated that this was because he had “dropped his cell phone in the toilet,” according to Dores.
The change in Machado’s cloud password and the deactivation of his location-tracking feature caused the family to become further worried.
Born in Araranguá, Machado started studying to be an actor in 1997.
He notably starred in the 2021 film, “Placebo Effect (Efeito Placibo),” which he also co-wrote. In his final role before his death, Machado played a Philistine in the 2022 telenovela “Reis.”
