Ada: Search For 2 Missing Fishermen Suspended

According to Graphic Online, the two missing fishermen from last Thursday’s canoe accident near Ada are no longer being sought after.

17 of the 19 fishermen involved in the disaster have been found, with 15 of them still alive and two of them deceased. There are still two of them missing.

The hunt for the two missing fishermen was put to an end by the Ghana Navy and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) on Saturday night. Strong waves that day in Azizanya, Ada, capsized two fishing canoes, leaving the two fishermen missing.

Another body found 

On Saturday morning, a second body was discovered. Due to its deteriorating condition, the body was given to the family in Ada for urgent burial after being discovered at Anloga in the Volta Region. 17 of the 19 fishermen engaged in the incident have been located, with 15 still alive and two deceased.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, September 16, 2023, Ada East NADMO Public Relations Officer Ebenezer Dan-Doe said the crew had decided to end the search after three consecutive days of searching. However, he urged the coastal communities to be cautious and notify the security services if they spot anything.
