Adu Boakye: Ghanaian Man Murdered In Canada Did Nothing Wrong – Police
Additional information has surfaced regarding the tragic incident in northwest Toronto where a Ghanaian individual lost their life on February 17.
The police have revealed that the young man, Adu Boakye, was an innocent bystander waiting at a bus stop when an unidentified gunman targeted him. The authorities have now disclosed the identity of the shooter.
Regrettably, Boakye succumbed to his injuries upon reaching the hospital after being swiftly transported from the scene of the attack. Another unnamed teenager also remains hospitalized as a result of being shot by the same assailant. The police have emphasized that both victims had no connection to the perpetrator and were entirely innocent.
Supt. Andy Singh of 31 Division addressed the media, highlighting the innocence of both victims and expressing concern within the community. He stated that this aspect has greatly contributed to the alarm surrounding this incident. Reports indicate that Adu Boakye, a father of four, had only recently relocated to Canada three months prior to the unfortunate event.
A police statement on the incident read in part: “On Saturday, February 17, 2024, at approximately 3:05 p.m., police responded to a call for shooting in the Jane Street and Driftwood Avenue area.
“It is reported that: the victim was located with gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were performed and the man was transported to hospital. The man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased,” it added.
“The victim has been identified as Adu Boakye, 39, of Ghana,” the February 20 statement released by the Homicide and Missing Persons United confirmed.
Detective Phillip Campbell also gave further details on the matter, disclosing to the media that: “Our investigation thus far has revealed there is no relationship between Mr. Boakye and the individual, or individuals, who shot him.
“And like the victim shot the day before, Boakye was innocently going about his business [when he was shot],” he added.
