AFCON Finals: Black Sherif Clashes With Nigerian Fans After Mocking Super Eagles
Black Sherif found himself in a confrontation with Nigerian fans following his reaction to Nigeria’s defeat against Ivory Coast in the 2023 Afcon finals.
It had become a common trend for Nigerians to taunt Ghanaians whenever they emerged victorious in their matches, even though Ghana was not even participating in the competition. This trolling from Nigerian fans had become a regular occurrence.
Not only were the fans involved in this banter, but even celebrities joined in and took the opportunity to mock their Ghanaian counterparts.
In response to this ongoing banter, Black Sherif decided to tag Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck reminding them of Nigeria’s loss in the match.
Unfortunately, this action by Black Sherif only fueled the fire as Nigerian fans turned their anger towards him. They claimed that it was the Nigerian music industry that had propelled him to fame and success.
One individual even went as far as telling Black Sherif that he should never bite the hand that feeds him. In a sharp retort, Black Sherif clarified that he was not biting their hand but merely licking it. This response was a brutal clapback that left a lasting impact.
IVORY COAST BEAT NIGERIA TO WIN THIRD AFCON TITLE
The winning goal in the thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over Nigeria was scored by Sebastien Haller of Ivory Coast.
The Super Eagles defied the odds by scoring the opening goal against the flow of the game. William Troost-Ekong showcased his aerial prowess as he outjumped Serge Aurier and directed a powerful header into the top corner in the 38th minute. However, the tournament hosts were determined to fight back.
Calvin Bassey made a crucial goal-line block to deny Max Gradel, preventing the equalizer just after halftime. The pressure from the Ivory Coast team eventually paid off when Franck Kessie headed home to Simon Adingra’s corner, igniting wild celebrations among the home crowd shortly after the hour mark.
Ivory Coast continued to grow in confidence and, with just nine minutes remaining, Borussia Dortmund striker Haller, who had battled testicular cancer in 2022 and undergone surgeries and chemotherapy, skillfully flicked Adingra’s precise cross into the net, giving his team a well-deserved lead.
Despite a late surge from their opponents, Ivory Coast, who had recently changed managers, held on to secure a remarkable comeback victory at the lively Alassane Ouattara Stadium.
