William Essu, the Legon Cities goalkeeper who is presently going through an undisclosed health issue, has received heat from the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG).
In a previous report championed by Ghanasonncernet and reshared by Tru News Report, William Essu asked the Ghana Football Association and the Sports Ministry to release the outstanding bonuses owed to the team for their U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier victory over Algeria in March 2023.
Essu, who was a member of the U-23 squad, has recently gained sympathy from many after distressing images of his deteriorating health condition circulated on the internet on September 12. Reports suggest that Essu has been battling illness for several months and has allegedly been neglected by his club, Legon Cities. Consequently, he has publicly appealed to the FA to address the unpaid bonuses.
In a letter that has been made public, the 21-year-old goalkeeper reached out to Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko, the entire management of the Black Meteors, and the Ghana FA, seeking assistance.
The injured goalie has already received a visit from the PFAG. The visit was evidence of the PFAG’s dedication to caring for its own, particularly when a fellow footballer is dealing with a difficult illness.
William Essu has recently been dealing with health concerns, so Tetteh Zutah and Anthony Baffoe went to his house with smiles and encouraging words in an effort to uplift his spirits. Essu, who is renowned for his extraordinary abilities in goal, was extremely moved by the visit and the concern displayed by these football celebrities.
