Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) recently besieged the Cantonment office of former President John Dramani Mahama for a supposed cleanup exercise.
Originally scheduled for November 16, 2023, the exercise was postponed and a statement was issued by the Greater Accra youth wing on November 13, 2023.
However, some members of the NDC were captured in viral videos wielding machetes around the office premises of John Mahama following the exercise on November 23, 2023.
The president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has responded to the events. He reacted to the development at the Valedictory Service for the outgoing Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Reverend Professor Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante.
He made it clear that the actions carried out by the NDC faithful will not be tolerated before, during, or after the December 2024 general elections. The president reassured the people of Ghana that his administration is working tirelessly to restore the economy to its pre-COVID-19 state.
He expressed confidence in fulfilling this promise before his term comes to an end. Nana Addo strongly condemned the behaviour of the NDC youth and emphasized that such actions will not be accepted in the upcoming December 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Recall that in a video shared by GHOne TV and anchored by Serwaa Amihere, the youth were seen wielding offensive weapons and chanting war songs, ready to deal with any NPP members who wanted to picket at Mahama’s office after Fixing The Country Movement decided to organize a notorious protest against former president John Dramani Mahama.
