Akufo-Addo Should Snub It—KSM Reacts To Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill
Ghanaian satirist Kwaku Sintim Misa (KSM) has responded to the anti-LGBTQ+ bill by highlighting the fact that many of his close friends are homosexuals.
During an interview on Starr Chat, KSM dismissed the idea that they are a rarity and suggested a more nuanced approach, focusing on raising awareness and promoting education rather than relying solely on legislative measures.
KSM emphasized that there are numerous people in Ghana and Africa as a whole who identify as homosexuals, debunking the misconception that they are nonexistent. He firmly stated that belief in their nonexistence stems from ignorance and should be challenged.
He emphasized that Nana Akufo-Addo should refrain from approving the bill and turning it into law due to the potentially significant consequences. He suggested that efforts should be focused on advocacy to deter their actions.
“The bill must not be passed, but rather there must be advocacy to prevent their acts,” KSM revealed.
Meanwhile, the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, has made it clear that he does not support the anti-gay bill recently passed by the Ghanaian parliament.
He emphasized that Ghana will continue to uphold its reputation as a protector of human rights. According to a statement released by the President, the bill is currently being contested in the Supreme Court, and the nation must wait for the court’s decision.
The anti-gay bill was approved by Ghana’s Parliament on February 28, 2024.
