Akwaboah Jnr Reveals Kwabena Kwabena’s Role In His Name Change

Akwaboah Jnr recently made an appearance at Accra FM, where he shared some surprising revelations about his colleague, Kwabena Kwabena.

It seems that there is a sense of hostility between these two exceptional highlife musicians that Ghana can proudly boast of.

Nana Romeo said he has learned that Kwabena Kwabena has allegedly taken over Akwaboah’s flagship show, Shades of Love, which is traditionally hosted every Valentine’s Day and wanted to find out from him if the rumours were true.

Before answering the question, Akwaboah expressed his deep respect for Kwabena Kwabena. He revealed that it was he who advised him to use the name Akwaboah, reflecting the strong musical heritage he comes from, instead of his initial choice, Storm.

Akwaboah explained that, as a budding musician, he had intended to go by the name Storm. However, Kwabena advised him that by embracing the name Akwaboah, which was associated with his legendary grandfather and his father, both accomplished musicians, he would have a better chance at achieving mainstream success.

Kwabena suggested adding Junior to the name, and this advice worked wonders for Akwaboah.

Despite the current situation where Kwabena Kwabena has allegedly taken over his show, Akwaboah said he has decided to refrain from speaking ill of him on air.

He acknowledged that, if given the opportunity, he could have shared a lot of grievances. However, he chose not to do so, recognizing the positive impact Kwabena’s advice had on his career.
