Ama K. Abebrese And Kofi Kinaata Grab UN Appointment

Kofi Kinaata and Ama K. Abebrese have been appointed as members of a distinguished group of influential individuals for the United Nations International Organization for Migration (UN-IOM), which recently launched the Goodwill Ambassador Pilot Programme and Celebrity Engagement Programme, as per a report by Citi News.

The UN-IOM has indicated that the purpose of the Goodwill Ambassador Pilot Programme and Celebrity Engagement Programme is to “harness the influence and outreach of notable personalities from various sectors to advance and endorse our mission.”

“This initiative will increase our visibility, amplify our messages, and encourage collaboration at national, regional, and global levels. We are excited to work with dedicated and engaged individuals who share our commitment to enhancing the lives of migrants around the world.” the UN-IOM added

Kofi Kinaata acknowledged his role by saying, “There is much to be done to enable young Ghanaians to make informed migration decisions. I use my music to educate people about safe migration pathways, the dangers of irregular migration, and opportunities at home.”

On the other hand, Ama K.Abebrese also stated. “As a diasporan who has lived between Ghana and the UK, I understand why many people choose to migrate. I urge everyone to do so safely and through proper channels.”

Kinaata’s exceptional talent for crafting lyrics with unique rhyme schemes and his entertaining Fante rap style, infused with traditional African proverbs in his local language, has earned him recognition. In February 2020, he was honoured with the Hybrid Song of the Year award at the Ghana National Gospel Music Awards 2019.

Kofi Kinaata’s prowess as a songwriter has been acknowledged at the Ghana Music Awards, where he has won the Songwriter of the Year title for three consecutive years.

In December 2015, he released a song titled “Made in Taadi,” which resonated deeply with the Fante community due to its connection to their renowned “Ankos” festival, a vibrant Fancy Dress and Masqueraders Xmas Carnival held annually during Christmas.

During the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Awards in September 2023, held at the University of Professional Studies in Accra, Kinaata had the privilege to showcase his talent with a captivating performance.

Ama K. Abebrese, a British-Ghanaian actress, television presenter, and producer, was born in Ghana and raised in West London, United Kingdom. She received the 2011 Best Actress in a Leading Role at the AMAA Awards for her outstanding performance in Sinking Sands.

Her notable film credits include Azali, Ghana’s first-ever selection for the Oscars, and the 2015 Netflix movie Beasts of No Nation directed by Cary Fukunaga, starring Idris Elba.

In the film, she portrays the mother of the young actor Abraham Attah, who plays Agu. Abebrese is recognized as one of Africa’s Top 20 Actors and Actresses by FilmContacts.com. She also serves as the narrator and producer of the Blitz Bazawule film The Burial of Kojo, which was acquired by Array and released on Netflix.
