Are You Telling Me Richard Ofori Is Better Than Ati Zigi? Sonnie Badu Bares Teeth At Ghana’s Coach

Sonnie Badu strongly criticized Ghana’s coach for selecting Richard Ofori as the primary goalkeeper for the Black Stars over Lawrence Atizigi and Jojo Wollacot.

Sonnie’s argument revolves around Ofori’s limited playing time at his South African club, Orlando Pirates, which has resulted in a lack of mental alertness and sharpness.

Ati Zigi

This deficiency ultimately led to Ofori’s costly mistake, causing Ghana to technically miss out on a spot in the last 16. Sonnie firmly believes that it is now imperative to dismiss the entire goalkeeping staff, headed by Richard Kingson, without delay.

Ghanaian fans are growing increasingly frustrated with the team’s poor performances in recent years and the performance against Mozambique is the height of it all.

In their latest match against Mozambique, Ghana was leading 2-0 until the 90th minute, but two late goals from Mozambique resulted in a 2-2 draw and dimmed Ghana’s hopes of reaching the Last 16.

Despite finishing third in Group B with two points, it remains uncertain whether Ghana will advance to the next round. Cape Verde, who finished first in the group after a 2-2 draw against Egypt, and Egypt, who finished second, have secured their spots in the knockout stages.

Ghana’s early penalty goal by Jordan Ayew and his subsequent conversion of a second penalty seemed to secure their victory, but a penalty awarded to Mozambique in the first minute of optional time and a late equalizer from Renildo Mandava turned the tables.

Both Ghana and Mozambique ended the group stages with two points each.

Here’s what Sonnie Badu has to say:
