Asake Lands On Hard Floor After Jumping Into Crowd At Afro Nation Portugal
Popular Nigerian Afrobeats musician Ahmed Ololade, known professionally as Asake, has caused a stir on the internet after a video of his performance at Portugal’s Afro Nation went viral.
The Amapiano superstar decided to spice up his performance by diving into the crowd, but failed and hit the floor after fans tried unsuccessfully to grab him.
This year’s edition of Afro Nation, the largest Afrobeats festival in the world, took place in Portugal from June 28th to June 30th and featured performances by Burna Boy, Wizkid, Black Sherif, Ayra Starr, Asake, and many more of the continent’s most popular musicians.
Videos from the event are going viral online, capturing the moment Asake tried to reciprocate the love he enjoyed throughout his performance by jumping into the crowd.
Asake recently released his long-awaited second album titled “Work of Art.” Asake’s debut single off this Amapiano-dominated album, titled “2:30,” was released in April of this year, and its infectious cadence and catchy lyrics immediately captivated audiences. As a result, Asake’s reputation as a rising star on the Nigerian music landscape was solidified.
The second single released in January, “Yoga,” further exemplified his distinctive musical style and received widespread acclaim for its fresh sound and captivating melodies. The 14-track album only features Olamide, the acclaimed artiste and proprietor of the YBNL Nation record label on the song “Amapiano,” which was released as a single in May.
