Asamoah Gyan ‘Exposes’ Kevin-Prince Boateng In 2014 WC Sacking Saga

Asamoah Gyan has taken to Twitter to refute claims made by Kevin Prince Boateng regarding the lack of support he received from his national teammates during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Despite downplaying the tone of his language, Gyan’s message effectively contradicts Boateng’s statement made on Rio Ferdinand’s Vibe With Five Podcast.

Gyan asserts that Boateng’s expulsion from the team was due to a clash with Black Stars head coach James Kwasi Appiah during a training session, and that the decision was made by the head coach.

Furthermore, Gyan maintains that Boateng had support from his teammates behind the scenes. This version of events contradicts Boateng’s account, which stated that the clash occurred during a meeting with the team’s leaders, including then GFA President Kwasi Nyantakyi.

Kevin-Prince Boateng recently disclosed the events surrounding Sulley Muntari’s reaction when both players were dismissed from the Black Stars camp during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

In the morning, just before Ghana’s crucial group game against Portugal, the duo was expelled from the camp due to their inappropriate behaviour.

Muntari had physically assaulted Moses Armah, a member of the Black Stars management committee, while Boateng’s dismissal was a result of his disrespectful conduct towards coach Kwesi Appiah. Boateng recounted the incident, explaining that they were handed a letter instructing them to vacate the hotel premises within a mere 15 minutes.

He emphasized the unexpected and challenging nature of the situation, particularly considering the high stakes of the impending match. Furthermore, Boateng revealed the emotional outburst displayed by Muntari during their departure. Muntari vehemently shouted in anger, expressing his intention to “harm everyone.”

“They said leave the hotel in 15 minutes, give your cards back and everything, and I was like ‘Wow!’. It was the third game of the group stage, so if we win, we go through. We lose, we go out. (The meeting was) the night before (the game)…me and Muntari argued with the president. So I came out of my room and I knocked on the door, I said ‘Sulley’ and he said ‘Yeah, me too’. They kicked both of us out on gameday,” he said on Vibe with FIVE podcast.

“I saw them when I was going out. The worst moment is when you are going out of the World Cup with your luggage. And Muntari was in the background going ‘Huh, I will kill everybody’. So we walked, and the guys said ‘Bro we are so sorry. Should we talk to them?’ And I said ‘If you want to talk to them, you spoke to them already,’ and I said a real would say we are all not playing,” he added.
