Bawumia Failed Ghanaians, Try Me- Kennedy Agyapong ‘Begs’ Delegates

Kennedy Agyapong asserts that Ghanaians eagerly desire a business-oriented leader, such as himself, to assume the presidency of Ghana, rather than an economist like Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who has disappointed the nation in his role as Vice President.

As the potential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Agyapong highlights that Ghanaians have already experienced presidents from legal, military, and economic backgrounds yet remain dissatisfied with the state of the country’s affairs. Consequently, Agyapong emphasizes that his entrepreneurial expertise positions him as the beacon of hope in the eyes of Ghanaians.

“What Ghanaians are looking for is a bold honest leader, the situation they are in they have tired politicians who are who are lawyers, soldiers, and economists,  and still  Ghanas fill is that it is not enough the way things are going, therefore, Kennedy Agyapong is the best, let us give him a chance and see what a businessman can also do,” he told journalists after casting his vote in the November 4 presidential primaries of the NPP on Saturday.

He further said he would defeat the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) former president John Dramani Mahama if he is elected.

The Assin Central lawmaker “I will beat Mahama hands down, no doubt about it. everywhere what Ghanaians are expecting is an honest and bold leader.”

The ongoing process of electing a flagbearer for the ruling NPP is taking place at 277 polling centers nationwide, with an estimated 200,000 delegates participating in the exercise that is scheduled to conclude at 2:00 pm.

Relatedly, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma West constituency has confidently predicted that Kennedy Agyapong will not emerge victorious in the ongoing voting by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to elect a flagbearer for the party in the 2024 elections.

She further asserts that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will win with a resounding 80% of the votes in her constituency. With a total of 203,439 delegates expected to cast their ballots across the country, the MP and Minister of Communications believe that Kennedy Agyapong will soon realize the overwhelming support for Vice President Bawumia’s candidature.

In a media interview at her constituency on Saturday, November 4, 2023, Mrs Owusu-Ekuful confidently stated her position.

“I know what the kingmakers in this constituency have told me. Bawumia will secure nothing less than 80 per cent of the votes. Everybody will their smoothness level in this constituency.”
