Beauty Queen Shot Dead After Instagram Post Of Octopus Dish ‘Led Assassins To Restaurant’

Ecuadorian beauty queen Landy Párraga Goyburo was tragically shot and killed while dining at a restaurant in Quevedo. It is believed that her social media post revealing her location may have led to her untimely death.

The police investigation suggests that the shooting took place shortly after Párraga shared a photo of her meal, octopus ceviche, on Instagram, providing the assailants with information about her whereabouts.

Following the circulation of this information, two armed men entered the restaurant and fatally shot her multiple times.

The report also mentioned that Párraga’s name had recently surfaced in a corruption probe linking judicial officials to organized crime.

There are suspicions that the murder was orchestrated by the widow of a drug lord with whom Párraga was rumoured to have been involved.

Goyburo, a well-known figure in Ecuadorian society, had a significant following on social media and was recognized for her entrepreneurial ventures, including a goods-importing business and a sportswear line.

They claim to have been hired by the widow of Leandro Norero, a cartel leader who had a romantic relationship with Párraga before his violent demise in prison.

In December 2023, Párraga’s name surfaced in a chat made public by the Attorney General’s Office as part of a significant investigation into organized crime.

Among the 52 individuals facing prosecution in this case is Helive Angulo, who allegedly managed Norero’s assets. In the chat, Angulo informed the cartel boss that the police had inquired about Párraga.

Norero cryptically responded, “If my wife discovers anything about her, I’m in deep trouble. My friend, her name must not be revealed anywhere. Otherwise, my entire world will collapse.” Norero was murdered in prison in 2022, just six months after being incarcerated.

The Attorney General’s Office is investigating money transfers to Párraga’s bank account.

Despite this, the office has not pressed charges against the former beauty queen, and she has never publicly addressed the case. Párraga participated in the Miss Ecuador pageant and represented Los Ríos Province in 2022.
