Benjamin Mendy: Manchester City Player Found Not Guilty Of 6 Counts Of Rape; One Count of Sexual Assault

Benjamin Mendy, a Manchester City player, has been declared NOT GUILTY on seven charges; six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault following a trial that lasted for five months, and an investigation that lasted for seventeen months.

However, he would have to face a new trial on two more accusations (rape and attempted rape) because the jury has been discharged after it failed to reach a verdict on those two charges.

Co-accused Louis Saha Matturie, Mendy’s alleged “fixer”, was found not guilty of three counts of rape against two women.

The jury was unable to make a decision on any of the other six counts that were brought against him.

Following the submission of claims against the defendants by thirteen different women in August, the trial has been ongoing at the Chester Crown Court since that month.

As the jury was unable to reach a verdict on any of the claimed rape or attempted rape accusations against Mendy, a new trial is scheduled to take place in June.

As the foreman of the jury delivered the verdicts that were unanimously agreed upon, the 28-year-old man covered his face with both hands and softly rocked back and forth.

They were handed over on Wednesday, but the news couldn’t be released until the jury had finished deliberating on the other two counts.

On Friday, the judge questioned whether or not the jury would be able to reach a judgment if they were granted further time. On the other hand, the foreman’s response was: “No. We are at a point now where we can’t agree.”

Both men disputed the allegations and said that there was no coercion involved in any of their sexual encounters.
