Bono Region: Teenage Boy Allegedly Murders Grandmother

A report going around on Twitter and reinforced by GhanaWeb indicates that a 14-year-old boy has allegedly killed his grandmother in the town of Gonasua in the Bono Region’s Jaman South Municipality.

Madam Veronica Abena Kwaabena was allegedly murdered by the suspect, Clifford, and her body was then interred in a garden in his backyard. GhanaWeb has learned that the suspect lives in Faaman, a nearby settlement, but last week he paid a visit to the grandma in Gonasua.

According to the information, when the deceased’s granddaughter returned from school and discovered the suspect washing up bloodstains, the suspect said that the blood was actually from an animal he had killed. Ferkah Richard, an assemblyman representing the Gonasua electoral area, verified the tragic occurrence on GhanaWeb, revealing that Madam Veronica Abena Kwaabena was reported missing on October 4, 2023, after all attempts to find her proved fruitless.

“The deceased was declared missing last Wednesday, prompting a search for her and a series of announcements on the radio but all to no avail”. Ferkah Richard added that after three days of intensive search by the community, the mortal remains of the deceased were found in the garden on Friday, October 6, 2023, which led to the subsequent arrest of the suspect.

“We searched for the woman for three days and on the third day we found her remains in the garden located on the compound where the deceased lived and the suspect was arrested based on evidence available”.

Meanwhile, GhanaWeb has reliable information that the suspect, who is currently in Drobo’s custody, has since admitted to the crime.
