Burna Boy And His Mom Land In Cote d’Ivoire Ahead Of STELL’AIR Festival
Burna Boy has arrived in Cote d’Ivoire, coinciding with Nigeria’s upcoming match against Guinea-Bissau in the last group stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Nigerian superstar, who has won a Grammy Award, touched down in Abidjan with his mom, who doubles as his manager, a couple of days before Nigeria’s last Group A encounter. In addition to his presence at the football match, Burna Boy is set to captivate the audience tonight as the main act at the prestigious STELL’AIR festival.
Meanwhile, in a Group A match on Thursday, Nigeria secured a 1-0 victory over Ivory Coast, the hosts of the 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The winning goal was scored by Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong from a penalty spot in the 55th minute in Abidjan.
With this win, Nigeria has taken a significant step towards advancing to the last 16. Currently, they are placed second in Group A with four points, ahead of the final matchday of this stage. Equatorial Guinea leads the group with four points after defeating Guinea-Bissau 4-2 earlier on Thursday.
Ivory Coast, on the other hand, has three points after two games and must defeat Equatorial Guinea on Monday to progress to the knockout stage.
On the same day, Nigeria will face Guinea-Bissau, who have lost both of their games in this group.
The top two nations from each group will automatically qualify for the last 16, and the four highest-ranked third-placed nations will also join them in the first knockout stage.
