Calm Down On Spotify: Don Jazzy Eulogises Rema After Song Hit One Billion Streams

Don Jazzy has expressed his congratulations to Divine Ikubor, alias Rema, after the remix of his hit song “Calm Down” featuring Selena Gomez reached one billion Spotify streams.

The music executive was thrilled for his signee because of the most recent success, which makes Rema the first African artiste in the history of the international streaming platform to have a song reach the billion-view threshold. Don Jazzy acknowledged the achievement of the 23-year-old award-winning artist on his Twitter page, saying it wasn’t “small at all.”

He wrote; “Massive congratulations to @heisrema as Calmdown ft @selenagomez just crossed 1 billion streams on Spotify. This is not small at allllll. Thanks for the love and support guys.”

Back in January, Tru News Report revealed how Rema became the first African to top Billboard Global Excl. 200 US chart with his ‘Calm Down Remix’ featuring Selena Gomez.

The collaboration between Rema and Selena Gomez on ‘Calm Down’ rocketed all the way to the top of the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, where it started at No.8.

Rema’s ‘Calm Down,’ is from his first studio album, Rave & Roses (2022). As the album’s second single, it premiered on February 11, 2022, through Jonzing World and Mavin. The song charted across Europe, reaching number one on the Belgian Ultratop 50, Dutch Top 40 and Dutch Single Top 100. It has enjoyed 53.3 million streams every week, and 4,000 downloads sold up to 18% in countries outside the U.S.in December.

On August 25, 2022, a remix version of the song featuring American singer Selena Gomez was released. This new recording topped the Billboard Hot Afrobeats Songs chart and peaked at number four on the Hot Global 200.

Rema says, ‘Calm Down’ is about the things that happened around the time he fell in love at a party.
