Chance the Rapper Uses Twi Words In New Freestyle, Also Mentions ‘Osu & Kumasi’ in The Song
A few months after leaving the shores of Ghana after he and other American celebs stormed the country for a vacation, Chance the Rapper has shown his allegiance to the country by using a few Twi words in a fresh freestyle.
The American rapper discussed the freedom Ghana attained thanks to Dr Kwame Nkrumah and stated the names of some well-known towns in the nation in the new song as well as using the Twi language intermittently.
He expressed pride in Africa and the ability of some African leaders to safeguard their citizens while in office by demonstrating black excellence and leadership in his freestyle.
He named several nearby towns, including Osu and Kumasi. In his freestyle, he also referenced “Akwaaba” and Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, the founder and independence fighter of Ghana.
After being uploaded to Instagram, the video immediately received a lot of feedback from fans.
After making a few more visits to Ghana, Chance The Rapper made the decision to organize a free concert series and visual arts exhibition so that other people could enjoy the vibrant culture of the nation. Eight Chicago students travelled to Ghana over the summer with Chance and Mensa to learn more about Africa.
“I felt so free in Ghana. .. and I want others to feel the same way,” said Chance, who along with Mensa hosted the inaugural Black Line Star festival in Accra, Ghana, in 2023. The weeklong festival featured events, panel discussions and a free concert on Jan. 6 with performances by Chance, Mensa, Erykah Badu, T-Pain, Jeremih, Sarkodie, Tobe Nwigwe, Asakaa Boys and M.anifest.
Chance’s third mixtape, Coloring Book released in 2016 garnered critical acclaim and attention. It earned him three Grammy Awards, including the award for Best Rap Album; upon winning, it became the first streaming-only album to win a Grammy Award and peaked at number eight on the Billboard 200. His debut studio album The Big Day was released in 2019.
